Profile

John Pawson trained briefly in Japan with Shiro Kuramata, then opened a London practice in 1981 dedicated to architectural minimalism — Calvin Klein's Madison Avenue flagship, the Novy Dvur Cistercian monastery, his own house in Notting Hill. Every joint considered, nothing decorative survives.
